「ニュー洛中洛外図」
現代の都市風景を合板の木目にのせることで洛中洛外図をアップデートします。
洛中洛外＝都市と郊外、です。 膨張と増殖を繰り返す現代都市、その複製を担っているものの1つに工業的に大量生産される合板があると考えました。合板の木目には工業製品ならではの木目が現れます。もやもやとしてリピート感のあるその木目をホームセンターで見ていたら、たなびく金雲が見えてきました。そんな合板から現代版洛中洛外図を考えます。
"New Rakuchu-Rakugai-Zu"
By placing a modern urban landscape onto the grain of plywood, the traditional Rakuchū-Rakugai Zu (typical Japanese "folding screen picture"refers to the scenes of capital and its outskirts in medieval time) is updated.In the ever-expanding and proliferating modern city, one of the essential building materials is plywood, which is industrially mass-produced. In this work, the grain of plywood resembles swirling golden clouds of Rakuchu-Rakugai-Zu.
Grain of plywood has a unique repeating pattern which appears through its manufacturing process. Layering Metro Tokyo and its suburban area on this symbolic grain pattern, Rakuchu-Rakugai-Zu has been updated.
